AFSCME: Organizing for the Win!
Updated On: Oct 12, 2016
AFSCME has been working hard in 2016 to organize current locals and to build new ones. Recently, we have successfully organized two major campaigns based on employee concerns.

1. Employees at the Denver 911 Call Center are finally being heard. Management has set meetings throughout October to hear employee voices and address concerns. Management is also reviewing certain employee salaries to determine appropriate pay increases for employees with frozen wages. Furthermore, management stopped mandatory overtime scheduling and returned to a voluntary overtime system.

2. Employees at Denver Human Services have set a meeting with management to discuss working conditions and to review certain employee salaries to determine appropriate pay increases for employees with frozen wages.

AFSCME has enjoyed many more victories over the course of 2016, including negotiated contracts, grievance victories, member appreciation drives, and community outreach initiatives. We are excited to finish 2016 strong and look forward to our greatest year yet in 2017!
