Jeffcom 911 Employees Want Collective Bargaining!
Updated On: Sep 20, 2018

The Jefferson County Communications Center Authority (JEFFCOM 911) is a 911 call-center that handles emergency calls for Arvada, Golden, Wheat Ridge, Lakewood, Edgewater, the Evergreen and West Metro Fire protection districts, and the Jefferson County Sheriff. All 911 calls in Jefferson County will be routed to JEFFCOM 911, making employees responsible for the lives of over 500,000 citizens and countless more commuters. While the employees are working hard to provide the best service possible, the center is understaffed and poorly managed. Management has ignored their concerns, instead painting a rosy picture to the public in which “everything is right on track.”

The workers have chosen to organize a union to fight back. Workers, union staff, and community members have gone to four board meetings in the past 3 months as well as made countless phone calls and emails to demand recognition. Instead of giving their workforce what they deserve, management has chosen to subvert their efforts by putting together an "advisory board" to handle all employee concerns as well hire an independent consultant to "indivudally talk to workers about their concerns." In the labor world, "indepdent consultant" is ALWAYS code for "union buster."

15 Jeffco residents and labor activists came to the JEFFCOM 911 board meeting today, 9/20/18 to tell management loud and clear:

UNION BUSTING IS DISGUSTING!
