Officer Trainings Bring Members Together

This summer, union officers across Colorado have been stepping up to build power in their workplaces and beyond. AFSCME Colorado hosted two dynamic officer trainings—one in Denver this July and another in Pueblo in June—bringing together members from across the state for a weekend of learning, strategy, and solidarity. Whether they were longtime leaders or new to their roles, participants came ready to sharpen their skills and strengthen our union.

Officer trainings are a hands-on opportunity to dig into what it means to lead on the job. Members learned how to organize meetings, manage finances, support their coworkers, and organize around shared workplace issues. Just as important, they connected with union siblings from across our union, building relationships that will help us coordinate and grow across Colorado. Every conversation, breakout group, and shared story helped lay the foundation for a more powerful union.

More trainings are on the way, and we hope to see even more members in the room next time. If you’ve ever considered becoming a steward or want to get more involved in your local, these trainings are for you. Keep an eye on your inbox, and follow AFSCME Colorado on social media to stay up to date on upcoming events and opportunities to build your union power.
