The Year Ahead!

Happy 2025!

Last year was a remarkable year for AFSCME Colorado!

Our union grew at a record pace. Workers at Jefferson County Libraries and at the Denver Art Museum won their union elections on the same day. In addition, both Arapahoe County Human Services and Facilities and Fleet employees voted in favor of unionizing with AFSCME. And Denver City County employees just won their right to collectively bargain through a ballot initiative AFSCME helped pass overwhelmingly last November. Public service workers around the state are joining together as AFSCME for a voice on the job. And that means a stronger more powerful union.

That power is showing in our contracts too. Workers in Pueblo County, Adams County, Cherry Creek School District, and, most recently, the University of Denver won strong contracts with wage increases and better benefits.

And it’s not going to stop, either. This year, there will be even more opportunities for public service workers across the state to win a voice on the job with AFSCME. In addition, many locals will be going back to the table for your contract negotiations, so keep an eye out for bargaining surveys and bargaining updates, information on trainings, and more.

It’s going to take all of us! Whether you’re an elected officer or a dues-paying member, whether this is your first year as an AFSCME member or your 20th, or whether you’ve never missed a meeting or never been to one -- now is the time get involved and help us grow even stronger together. With this power, we can improve our jobs and the services we provide.

We’ll be keeping in touch to let you know of AFSCME happenings and news. In the meantime, you can visit www.AFSCMEColorado.org for the latest updates, resources, and to sign up for our email newsletter. And if you’re on social media, please follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
